Overview: As a ticket broker, 714Tickets’ content revolved around the latest news and events in sports, concerts, and the theatre industry. Located directly across from the Anaheim Ducks home arena of Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, a vast majority of their customers are Ducks fans, tourists, and season ticket holders. The schedule was a way to provide information about the Anaheim Ducks upcoming season to these groups and amongst the community with the goal of converting them to customers.
Responsibility: It was my responsibility to create and design the 714Tickets Anaheim Ducks home game schedule before each NHL season for four seasons from 2016-2020.
Design: The design was based on a similar design they used before my hiring. I recreated the design in Adobe InDesign to model the dimensions of the original schedule. I also structured the schedule in a similar format as the previous one with the schedule title and season on the front page, the arena seating chart on the inside left page, the schedule on the inside right page, and 714Tickets’ business information on the back page. Their logo, phone number, website, and other information were added to every page to promote 714Tickets, but also make the distinction between their schedule and that from the actual team.
I sourced a font similar to that used by the Anaheim Ducks to use for the front page and schedule page. The colors of orange and black were used to resemble the team colors. The background image used on the front, back, and schedule page is that of a hockey puck on ice to keep with the hockey theme. To neatly highlight their business information on the back page, I used hockey pucks as bullet points, starting with the most valuable piece of information most pertinent to customers.
The schedule’s dates, times, opponents, and promotions were copied directly from the official team schedule released by the Anaheim Ducks before the start of the season. These schedule components were all extremely important factors to include because any one of these could affect the attendance of the game, which in turn affects ticket sales.
Once complete, the schedule was reviewed several times. After it was approved by the owner, it was professionally printed locally a few weeks before the start of preseason.
Distribution: Once the schedule was printed, it was displayed in 714Tickets on the counters and handed directly to customers. The schedule allowed customers and fans to plan for games they wanted to attend and also purchase tickets in advance for popular games. In addition to the schedule being in the store and handed to customers, it was also shared with fans on game days, dispersed at community events, placed in giveaway or grab bags, and distributed at local restaurants and stores.
Customers and fans appreciated this schedule because it was the only physical schedule of its kind for them to reference Anaheim Ducks home game and arena information throughout the season.
